Chinese Brothel Madam and Her White Partner Made £312,000 From exploiting Chinese Women into Prostitution

Whilst reports of sex trafficking and/or prostitution by Chinese snake gangs in the UK are well documented, such crimes involving Chinese women and their White partners are much less reported.

Brothel madam Si Man Chan, 43, a mainland Chinese national, pleaded guilty to keeping a brothel for the purposes of prostitution between January 20 and June 4 last year, and converting criminal property between November 2006 and June last year. It is claimed the Chinese national made £312,000 from prostitution from running a brothel parlour in Lodge Causeway Bristol since 2007.

Her partner Brian Davies, 47, made £103,000 from the venture and also pleaded guilty to keeping a brothel and converting criminal property.

Yesterday Chan was jailed for two-and-a-half years and Davies given a 12-month suspended sentence, with 240 hours' unpaid work.

Brendon Moorhouse, prosecuting, said the couple had run a brothel in Swansea before Davies bought the premises in Lodge Causeway, advertised using the slogan "Niki relaxing massage".

In July 2007 Avon & Somerset police searched the premises and found Chan with two women who were illegal immigrants.

CCTV cameras and even a red light were installed at the premises, where officers also found condoms, wipes and creams. Two men called at the door as the raid was in progress.

One woman told them she was working at the brothel because she was in "debt bondage" in the sum of £25,000 to an unknown man in Chinatown, and was moved around the UK to work as a prostitute.

After jailing Chan, Judge Julian Lambert, who heard the pair have a three-year-old daughter, told Davies: "Your sentence is an act of mercy, not mercy for you but mercy for a little girl. You have no second chance."

note how the white guy gets off the lightest. but i bet he enjoyed the prossies strolling in and out of the brothel day in and day out.

also note how they tried to deflect any attention from the white guy by putting irrelevent information that one of the prostitutes owned money to a guy in chinatown. so what?

  2. You noticed the lesser sentence for the white guy too?

Poor woman, they don't serve mooncakes in UK prisons!

  4. "Timothy Rose, defending Chan, said she had not fully understood the warning letter as it was not written in her native Cantonese."

What she did was illegal but in her defence, if her lawyer doesn't know the difference between Cantonese (a colloquial dialect) and actual written Chinese (simplified or traditional, then, to my mind, she wasn't given the quality service that anyone deserves. Small detail perhaps (not, in my opinion) but lawyers are paid to deal with subtely and minutaie -in a word, CRAP.

"Edward Burgess, defending Davies, said his client was a man of good character whose mother had died of cancer in 2009 and whose godson was shot dead in North America last year.

What the f@#! has his Mum dying of cancer and his godson being shot dead in North America have to do with the man of 'supposed good character.' He was involved in the prostitution trade, he doesn't have good character, full stop.

"Mr Burgess said: "He was not involved in the nitty- gritty of the day-to-day running of these premises. It must have been plain what she was involved in and he turned a blind eye to that."

The bullsh@# that lawyers come up with, for crying out loud! I would say that being a silent partner and turning a blind eye is even more chicken sh#! What a coward!

Although, clearly negative, at least the woman has some balls (metaphorical not literal) in this case, whereas the white dude comes across as whining pussy.

By the way, I am writing in a deliberately provocative manner.

  6. ^ If youre a bbc get a google ID and join us, you made some good points.like i said, the white guy is almost always the perpetrator, and chinese girls...they love their abusive white guys. id write an article of how many east-asian girl brutal murders ( although mainly US-based) theyve been over the last decade committed by a white guy. id probably get accused of racism until you can see the pattern of abuse that goes on with this crap. too subservient. thats our problem, women put up with shit and us males dont speak out enough. money cant buy respect/self respect.

  7. You do realise this is how the legal system works. The defendant uses anything, and I mean anything, that might "explain" their difference from "normal" behaviour, no matter how unbelievable. Stuff that would be laughed at by anyone with common sense - is listened to - and more often than not - accepted by the British courts.

  8. Also, who is looking after the little girl now, since the mother is in prison? As the father only has a suspended sentence (he's free), I really hope it's not him... a proven aid to sex trafficking, with the responsibility of a mixed oriental girl? That's going to end in disaster.

Furthermore, why is the judge giving them lenient sentences for the sake of the little girl? Surely "parents" involved in the sex industry and human trafficking are not fit to hold the title of parents, and thus be jailed to the full extent of the law, whilst the poor girl is taken to care? Oh wait, she's half Chinese, does she not matter at all?

Rest assured she will be a whitewashed, white man worshipping whore in 20 years' time. Most unfortunate.

  9. its remarkable how Chinese people treat and exploit their own race this way, but it goes on even in Chinese takeaway employment, there have been many reports in newspapers of those Chinese employing low paid illegal workers in takeaways/restaurants appropriating near million pounds in profits. Anything for money eh?

  10. ^ Interesting that. Historically Chinese have looked down on themselves. Eg quick to infight and quick to whiteworship. Boils down to a sense of insecurity. This is the problem of a race thats been conformist for so long with only money to create security.

Thats what i keep telling people. And this is the importance of British Born Chinese culture, to explore the possibilities and new radicalisms.

But conservative Chinese dont want to act on it. As usual they lurk in darkness take it for themselves and how they can turn a profit and dont give anything back. What lurkers dont realise is that the wake up call needs to be shared in our community. Its a social wakeup call. Not a 'whats in it for me' squandering thing. We've been labelled inscrutable for too long. A new culture starts with creating dialogue - first online, then in person.

  11. absolutely disgusting behaviour. That woman deserves the worst kind of punishment - the exploitation of other human beings is the worst crime ever in my book. How can people do this to their own race?!!!!

  12. it is interesting how the sentences were handed out differently. Here is an article I found about a chinese couple given to me what seems like a bit of an excessive fine
