PSY Gangnam Style

PSY Gangnam Style made history as the first East Asian pop single to make it to number one in the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart over the weekend.

Gangnam Style Youtube Video has attracted 3billion hits worldwide

Whilst naive British East Asians jump for joy that another East Asian FOB cultural craze has taken off in Britain, The Guardian's Arwa Mahdawi in her article 'Whats So Funny About Gangnam Style' explains Gangnam Style success in the west and hits home the reality of media representation of East Asian men in British society...
'South Korean Park Jae-sang ("Psy" for short) is promoting upmarket frocks and luxury fridges is somewhat ironic, considering Gangnam Style's lampooning of the rampant consumerism that pervades what has been described as South Korea's Beverly Hills. The song's lyrics, for example, poke fun at soybean-paste girls who eat cheaply in private so that they can afford to drink mocha frappe lattes in public. Of course, this social commentary is largely lost on non-Korean speakers who don't know their kimchi from their Kim Lee; it's hardly Gangnam Style's political message that is behind its success in the west.'
'Gangnam Style is just an over-the-top video where a fat man does a comical dance and sings repetitive lyrics that don't make sense to most of us. Which basically describes every Flo Rida song ever. This is partly the point of the video, which parodies not just cultural mores specific to South Korea, but cultural excesses easily recognisable to western viewers. Gangnam Style's lyrics may be in Korean, but its visuals are in clear American.'
'The last time the west laughed so uproariously at a Korean singer was when an animated Kim Jong-il bewailed how "ronery" he was in the film Team America, and how nobody took him "serirousry". The puppet had a point: popular western media doesn't tend to take east Asian men seriously – even when they're brutal dictators. The stereotype of a portly, non-threatening Charlie Chan-type who speaks "comical" English is still very much alive, apparent in everything from hungry Kim Jong-un memes to Abercrombie and Fitch T-shirts. And it's hard to escape the uncomfortable feeling that this stereotype is contributing something to the laughter around Gangnam Style.'

Louis Walsh Racist To Jason Viet Tien

X Factor judge Louis Walsh has been branded a racist by a section of the Twitter community for repeatedly correcting Vietnamese contestant Jason Viet Tien mispronunciation of 'Tulisa' as 'Tulisha.'

Jason Viet Tien, an 18-year-old student from Hanoi, Vietnam, sang a version of Whitney Houston's 'I have Nothing' in a thick Vietnamese accent, declaring his love for judge Tulisa Contostavlos despite mispronouncing her name - much to the amusement of the audience.

During the X Factor broadcast at the weekend, Jason's mispronunciation resulted in #Tulisha trending worldwide on Twitter as thousands of tweets reacted with sinophobic humour.

Not adverse to racial controversy, Louis Walsh also said of Jason Viet Tien - "You remind me of a young Bruce Lee."

Reminiscent of the 2010 series of X Factor, when Louis Walsh described young black contestant Pajie Richardson as "You’re like a little Lenny Henry,” the only link between Pajie Richardson and Lenny Henry, Jason Viet Tien and Bruce Lee - is race. As an illustration of ignorance, Bruce Lee is not Vietnamese and Jason Viet Tien is not Chinese nor does he resemble Bruce Lee. Its an analogy of casual racism and racial stereotyping of East Asians, typically - 'they all look the same,' 'Bruce Lee is the only famous (East Asian) Chinese man I've heard of.' Through its broadcast, ITV, XFactor and in particular Louis Walsh, instigated and legitimised racism against East Asians.

Jason Viet Tien is not dissimilar to William Hung, a buck tooth FOB male caricature blissfully ignorant of western social and racial environments. In an interview prior to the audition, 'White Fever' Jason Viet Tien embarrassingly describes his craving for White British girls. Jason Viet Tien is a dupe, to further the media representation of East Asian men as 'sexless' short nerds with ghastly accents, out of their depth and out of their league, with no hope of winning the affection of alpha White females in her native country except through pity and derision, their FOB delusions of self-importance are pitied as a means of creating entertainment for the audience to laugh at - they're laughing at you Jason, not with you. Analiza Ching

Britain's Got Talent Analiza Ching violinist wants to perform nude for princes Harry and William

Analiza will not rule out putting on a naked violinist routine at the BGT live semi-finals although bosses say it might be too hot for the family show

She was told by David Walliams on the show last night “You make playing the violin sexy”, but says she wants to be even sexier.

She said: “It would be my dream to play in front of Prince Harry and William. Would I do it naked? Bring it on. I would have to think about stripping for the semi-final. I will see how I feel that day.”

Speaking about a naked photoshoot she has done, single Analiza, 29, said: “I don’t think we should be ashamed of our bodies. I would not rule out doing it again.

“You can never try to be sexy. You’ve either got it or you haven’t. But the moment I start playing my music, my body and my personality changes. I am given confidence and turn into a different person. I just go with the music.”

Britains Got Talent Chinese violinist Analiza Ching, who moved to the UK from China 12 years ago to study at The Royal Academy of Music in London, has played in front of Princess Anne, without underwear. She said: “I was in a rush so I didn’t have the chance to put any on.”

She said: “My ambition is to be a worldwide, respected violinist. Maybe I could be a naked violinist.”
Analiza says her father made her cry by forcing her to practise but added: “If he hadn’t, I wouldn’t be doing what I do today.”

Military Wives XMAS NO 1 2011

BRITAIN'S POPPY OBSESSION

Despite this year's Remembrance Day falling on Sunday, 13 November 2011, we are already into the middle of December and there are still white vans, construction lorries and taxis with big fat plastic poppies embedded into grillplates.

Not to mention Gareth Malone's Military Wives Choir single- 'wherever you are,' which is heading straight for 2011 Christmas number one spot.

By wearing a poppy what does that signify?

Well according to wiki:

It is the anniversary of the end of hostilities in the First World War at 11 a.m. in 1918, "to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts".

So what would any self respecting BBC care about the significance of  poppy wearing for? If you are self-respecting Chinese you will know that that poppy serves as a reminder of our humiliation at the hands of the western alliance during the Opium War - Just ask David Cameron in Nov 2010 on a trade visit to China, he looks like he could be a politically sensitive chap.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/blog/2010/nov/10/david-cameron-poppy-china-michael-white

Little did they know Hu Jin Tao had laced their champers with 100% Absolut Chinese piss

As some of you already read from the guardian link Hu JinTao wasn't too pleased. But then again this kind of behaviour is only to be expected from arrogant British imperialists.

So 'its only a poppy'...maybe I'm being over sensitive? Come on I know any whitewashed British Chinese still cant see my point and maybe FOBS think it's 'Hi Culture?'

Here's another example of western racism, blog of a White media executive living/working in China , with Chinese FOB wife and adorable mixed race baby.

http://www.rayallychina.com/

Scroll 1/3 down and you can see him proudly showing off his opium poppy, his Chinese wife, typically clueless, doesn't give a crap. And as long as she has her collection of Gucci bags, adorable baby, and hi western assimilated Chinese lifestyle why should she?

So there you have it, FOB Chinese woman happily married with baby to white imperialist racist. Chinese hi culture bourgeois lifestyle at it's finest. Just add poppy.

To us British Born Chinese, a poppy is representative of  the reasoning that 'immigrants are allowed' to live in the UK and should feel 'grateful'. After all, if India, Africa and Hong Kong weren't colonised by England, England wouldn't have been able to purge the riches from these countries and have such a high standard of living. Wearing a poppy is also a political tactic that gives average white English a false sense of pride .

'We died in the war for you lot' blahblah

Never mind the same children of those people sent to war by Imperialist warmongers and STILL sent to colonise Iraq, Middle East and latest news, maybe Iran, who are hiding Bin Laden's long lost brother's great auntie's false teeth.

So fellow BBC'ers the next time some snide China-hater flashes a poppy in front of you knowing that it will piss you off as a Chinese , I suggest you say the following:

'Yeah you keep wearing the plastic poppies mate, no point mourning the dead when the government are still sending out young soldiers to be killed daily for queen and country. You Moron.'

And if that comment fails to create any reaction , step into your car,  and calmly notify him you are playing this song for any imperialist who believes that killing innocents and plundering countries for their wealth somehow equates to nationalist pride:
