Weeaboos, Koreanophiles & Asiaphile Yellow Fever Girls

Japanophile Gwen Stefani.
Unravelling the intercultural phenomena known as the 'Weeaboo.'

A weeaboo is a non-Japanese obsessed with Japan and all things Japanese, AKA Japanophile, wapanese, otaku, anime/manga nerd, fangirl. A Chinese Japanophile is called harizu (search Youtube or BBC Facebook group). These girls sometimes interchangeably fetishize about Korean culture too but usually it is through discovering Japanese culture first.

Weeaboos And Asian Men

Due to cultural bias in discovering Japanese culture before any other Asian culture, young Asiaphile westerners perceive Japan to be a gateway to the rest of Asia, for example, a White Wapanese female once said that I should be indebted to Japanese culture for making Asian guys desirable to White girls, this is in reference to the fact that the White English females who have 'made a move' on me have been Japanophiles, not 'normal' White girls - if only her statement was true. Dating site's are valuable for research sampling, they reveal ethnic dating preferences, such prejudicial information is rarely disclosed in real life. On one unnamed site, 18 White female profiles contained typical Japanophile references (Hayao Miyazaki etc), of which 6 (33%) excluded Asian guys from their ethnic dating preference. The majority were no-racial-preference girls, merely multi-cultural consumers who enjoy different cultures. 2 out of the 18 stated a narrow preference for Asian guys (it is rarely an exclusive preference for Asian, rather Asian and another race i.e White), it is reasonable to surmise its a preference for Japanese men (because of the culture, wish to learn the language and a requirement to find a host for a visit to Japan), given a choice that is, but there are few Japanese in the UK, these types of girls are more likely to date a Chinese, many can't tell the physical difference between East Asian's either, any 'oriental' guy will do.

Extreme Self Hatred - Weeaboo Style

How to spot the self-haters...

1. Voluntary emigration
2. Marrying and/or breeding with another race
3. Refusing to speak their own ethnic language
4. Refusing to follow the culture/values/religion pertaining to their own race
5. Allegiance in the event of war, conflict or sporting competition etc

Weeaboo's exhibit most of the above and typically spout...
"My country sucks. I wanna emigrate, live, study or work in Japan. I wanna get a job as an artist working for Studio Ghibli. Mixed race half white half Asian are so kawaii, I wish I was half Japanese myself. I am learning Japanese language and wear cosplay Gothic Lolita clothes, watch anime, manga, listen to visual kei and eat Ramen Noodles and support Japan during the World Cup."
Common characteristics are 'weeaboo denial and weeaboo delusion.' When accused of being a weeaboo, they will deny it and point their finger at 'her over there' in an attempt to distinguish themselves as a 'proper' Japanese even though they're Caucasian, some paradoxically call other foreigners  "baka gaijin" (these 2 words along with kawaii are usually the only Japanese words an average weeaboo knows). A reality check in the mirror will see what race they are, wearing a kimono, watching anime and having a Japanese haircut will never make them Japanese, but in their mindset lies a desperate fantasy to be Japanese, thus a hatred of any race that isn't Japanese including their own race as well as an defence of Japan's war crime's record and an insistence the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and  Nagasaki were unjustified, rather like Nazi sympathizers disdain over the bombing of Dresden. Weeaboo's support Japan in sporting and cultural competitions rather than their own country, not that they're interested in sports, weeaboo's are too nerdy for sports, rather they participate in an individualist activity such as swimming, its rarely a team sport as weeaboo's tend to be low energy, anti-social, introverted and would rather be alone drawing on Deviantart.

Like many westerners living in the Far East, a large section were unpopular oddballs in their own western country so they seek out a new home. The internet allows them to fill this cultural void, indulging  in delusional nerdy otaku sub-culture. Ironically for these White fangirls is that many native Japanese dislike these types of foreigners, wapanese girls have a tendency to be juvenile in nature, their adolescence is the start of their wapanese fantasy, whereas some grow out of it by 21, others keep going, i.e they're 30 going on 12. They still watch anime at the age of 30. Their behaviour is predictable, starting off non-assuming and innocent, gradually evolving through a metamorphosis...eventually replacing their own western name with Japanese or Korean text or adding chan, sakura, neko, hime etc.

Westerners often associate anime/manga with Asian culture, arguably its nerd culture, hence a minority of nerds from the West find themselves compatible with a minority of nerds from the East, whereas a non-nerdy Asian male won't be that compatible with a nerdy White female, it follows that fangirls have a tendency to attract other western fangirl/boys like themselves rather than Asian's because of an admiration of a  sub-culture that is not mainstream in Asia. E.g, Visual kei, Gothic Lolita or some cross dressing effeminate Hizaki, its arguably more popular in the West than in Japan.

Note the absence of 'Asians.' Asians stay well away from weeaboo Cosplay Conventions
Why? Perhaps, these sub-cultural genres are western influenced. Anime characters are western looking with pointed noses, big round eyes, brown and blonde hair, Gothic Lolita costumes derive from Rococo and Victorian history, the band Versailles is a homage to the House of Bourbon hence the palace name and its period costumes, J-Rock, J-Pop etc is western music adapted, modified and re-packaged for  Japanese markets. White girls can relate to this, its their own western culture culturally appropriated by the Japanese.

Most White girls are outsiders looking through the Asian window, that's the nature of fandom, admiration  from a distance within their own fantasy world, even when they visit the Far East to fulfil their dream, they don't last long there, they're foreigners, foreigners usually mix with other foreigners like themselves within their expatriate communities. Their big plans wither away, they can't hack it long term, White people are notoriously poor at adapting to foreign environments, they can't turn native, many cannot speak the local language fluently, in the end, they trail back to the west. Some have travelled or lived overseas for so long, they are unable to acclimatize, they become western versions of shengnu, some having experienced real Asian men and real Asian culture...no longer want to date Asian guys, whilst others upon their return to the west...end up marrying a westernised Asian guy.

White Girls Don't Get East Asian Culture...

It is assumed that a White female that dates an 'oriental' guy is attuned to his culture, this is often not the case. White girls just can't resist doing a Chinese accent, there are many Chinese guys who have no issues with that nor with her slanting her eyes with her fingers, they laugh it off, in the process legitimizing her conduct and giving her licence to continue doing it as she does not consider it to be inappropriate.

It is self-deprecation in the face of White people, even in comedy, Peter Chao (surprise surprise Davin Tong has a white girlfriend) is the worst culprit of recent times, such horrid accents are normally reserved for the likes of Peter Ustinov as Charlie Chan. Most mainlanders and Taiwanese won't know who Peter Chao is, 80-90% of his fans on Facebook are non-Chinese, most yellow fever girls like him, yellow fever girls also seem to love Russell Peters, an Canadian Indian stand up comedian who incessantly ridicules Chinese using stereotypes through the eyes of non-Chinese folks like himself. Yellow fever girls also appear to love Wong Fu Productions...From what I've seen all they do is pre-occupy themselves with testing Asian stereotypes to see if they're true or not, these are things that White people can relate to...i.e White interpretation of Asians through non-Asian spectacles,  that is precisely how White girls look at Asian culture and the exact reason why they find Russell Peter's amusing and why they slant their eyes for their Chinese boyfriend. There's an attuning mismatch in Asian male expectations of yellow fever girls behaviour to his culture and what yellow fever girls think Asian men or Asian culture is about. (BBCZeitgeist)

Exactly how 'Chinese' is 'Chinese Speed-dating'?

Publicity photo for the home page of 'www.chinesespeeddates.co.uk'

As part of the UK speed-dating phenomena, since 03-May-2010 'www.chinesespeeddates.co.uk' takes place in the financial capital of the U.K, London, where for £20 and a total of 1hr 30 minutes, ethnic British Chinese city workers with working backgrounds such as Medicine, Engineering, Accountancy, and Law are given the opportunity to meet their potential ethnic Chinese spouse.

Exhibit A:

'Chinesespeeddates.co.uk'

One such event that regularly advertises on the British Born Chinese Facebook page is Chinese Speed Dates which describes itself as the following:

"Chinese Speed Dates host stylish and trendy speed dating events for people with, or interested in meeting people, with an Chinese or oriental background."
From the above description, the actual event makes little sense - if 'Chinese Speed Dates' is aimed at Chinese, it should read ' for ethnic Chinese people only'.

On the other hand, if the purpose is open invitation to white, black, brown, males and 'anyone' who wants to meet ethnic Chinese,  the obvious question is 'why'?

Above Image from the contact page .of the
 'Chinese Speed Dates' website

Image from the 'Book now' page- Spot the 2 white males and one white female.

Concernedly, one wonders whether events like 'Chinese Speed Dates' run by web domain owner Brighton-based businesswoman Sutmung Cheung , presumably a white-washed British Chinese female, are deliberately designed to encourage interracial dating between ethnic Chinese.

Exhibit B:

'Chinesespeeddating.co.uk'

Here's  another similar event that takes place monthly at the Jewel Bar, Piccadilly Circus, London. Whilst it appears to be a 'free' event, as you can see from a selection of reviews, dated December 2011, from the following ethnic Chinese males, males are not allowed to find out their' matches' until they pay for it.

Lee:
'As for the girls, some very pretty, some interesting to chat to, and some both. All friendly and pleasant, but whether they 'tick' you is another story. It is difficult to win someone over in 4 minutes, and after the speeddating there was no mingling time as we were kicked out for the next age group to come in.

Overall, speed dating is good, but I have been to ones that are much better organised. You might argue this one was free, but its not really - its free to see how many girls said yes, but you cant find out whether they're the ones you liked - it doesnt give you your matches until you pay the 20 quid. And you cant contact each other til you've paid, either.'
<3:
'Four minutes, of course, goes by quickly in ...um...four minutes...so I ditch routine profiling (asking about jobs, hobbies, any prison record, etc.) in favour of cutting straight to the chase with insightful questions such as "Why so cute but single?", "Chinese or British Food?" and "I'm prepared to lie about how we met". Poor things. How can they resist my charm offensive?

I speak to some lovely ladies but there's a minority who seem to have a hard time accepting that they are at a speed dating event. Unfortunately, there are no ladders available for them to get over themselves, so they're stuck in ambivalence, reciting the "I'm just here because my friend asked me to come" speech. I'm sure it's just as boring for them to watch my eyes roll as it is for me to listen to this.'
Wan Lee:
'Beware Chinese Speed Dating is not for the faint hearted, you will see how two-faced some of these girls actually are, they may be pretty, smile and sound as if they are interested in you, but the next day when you get your results you will see that you are on their reject list, and they don't even want to be a friend at least?!

However a good experience as it is free, but don't forget to read the small print! ;)'

Knowing how segregated and dispersed Chinese are in Britain, gaping lack of tradition the majority of British Chinese have retained in their own culture such as 'arranged marriage', the deliberate British media mismatching and non-representation of ethnic Chinese couples; in the heart of the cosmopolitan capital, where a considerably higher concentration of Chinese diaspora exists than anywhere else in the UK,  it's shocking that not one canny ethnic Chinese businessman/woman has yet organized an ethnic 'Chinese only' dating event.

And with Chinese speed-dating clearly designed to attract Chinese women to find non-Chinese multi-racial partners...Chinese males, who are viewed only as a reluctant inclusion at such events, maybe ought to look elsewhere, for their ethnic Chinese female date.

Whilst most single females have no problem dating a non-Chinese, at  multiculturally designed events such as 'Chinese Speed-dating', what alternatives are there for  ethnic Chinese males who are serious about finding a Chinese female partner?

BT Ripping Us Chinese Apart For London 2012

Media advertising during the 'multicultural' London 2012 Olympics and London 2012 Paralympics focused on crossing demographic boundaries with British Citizens unified behind the Union Jack. There's multiculturalism and there's agenda driven multiculturalism, the latter is a visionary yet artificial representation of British society. Two examples include the middle class interracial Black White family in the Olympic opening ceremony and the Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO advertisement 'BT Bringing Us All Together,' this advert will be played throughout the London Paralympics until September 15th.

In the advertisement, a lower class Black family share a barbecue with their White middle class neighbours, they sit in unison Black-White-Black-White-Black in support of Great Britain. British Blacks are not always portrayed as inter racially dating Whites (Black families in Eastenders are a further example), however the same rule does not apply to East Asians, typically British Chinese are represented as multiculturally integrated (and inter racially dating) with Whites, Blacks and Indians, but segregated from their Chinese peers.

Representation 1. Chinese female is cheering on Great Britain in the Olympic Stadium in the unlikely company of a turban wearing Sikh male.

Representation 2. Chinese female is alone with her White boyfriend in the middle of the English countryside.

Representation 3. In this crowd scene, Chinese female is intentionally placed in the front row to fill the ethnic diversity quota, she is standing in front of a Union Jack with a Black, a White and an Asian.

'BT Bringing Us All Together' advertisement attempts to normalise the segregation of the Chinese female from her Chinese community, segregation from her Chinese family, segregation from her natural partner - the Chinese male and segregation from her Chinese heritage (hence support for Great Britain not China), whilst calculatingly circumventing representations that run contrary to the interests of British Multiculturalism - three invisible examples in the British media are Chinese with a group of Chinese friends, Chinese male/Chinese female same race couples, ethnic Chinese families in the UK, not the Far East. This is media agenda driven multiculturalism through stealth, subliminal representations with designs to erase the traditional ethnic Chinese family. (BBCZeitgeist)

The Prostitute, Her Accountant husband And Her Policeman Lover

Have you heard the one about the Chinese prostitute, her White accountant husband and her white ex-policeman lover? Full Article
Chinese brothel madam Rong Chen, 35-years-old, trafficked and controlled at least four prostitutes and managed at least five brothels has been jailed for seven years. Belfast Crown Court judge Mr Justice Stephens said her “egocentric focus for financial gain was despite there being no financial pressures” on her.

Her two white henchmen, 44-year-old accountant husband Jason Hinton, who shares the same address as Chen at Crestwood Avenue, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, and former policeman Simon Dempsey, 42, were also sentenced. While Dempsey, her one-time white lover, was handed a nine-month term for aiding and abetting the control of prostitution, her white husband Hinton walked free from court with a 220-hour community service order for the same offence.

Her diaries revealed she raked in £282,107 in the 18 months from January 2008 until May 2009 while her victims were forced to live in “squalid” conditions, forced to have sex with strangers, given very little or no freedom and threatened with murder and deportation if they objected. Chen claimed her boyfriend was a member of a triad gang, that her husband’s relatives were high ranking police officers.

Four women, all aged between 45 and 56, had answered job advertisements placed in Chinese newspapers offering £220 a week as nannies, cleaners and child minders. Once they arrived in Northern Ireland, however, they were coerced into working in brothels. Chen placed ads in newspapers, advertising how they could use the women for £70 for half-an-hour.

BBCZeitgeist Commentary: Press describes Rong Chen not simply as a prostitute, but a 'Chinese prostitute.' With no reference of deportation, it can presumed she is a British National, Chinese in this context refers to her ethnicity not her nationality, if her ethnicity is of paramount  importance, why are the press not drawing attention to the ethnicity of her husband and her former policeman ex-lover - both are 'White men' colluding with the former Chinese prostitute into profiteering from the exploitation of Chinese women?

The Bachelor 2012

The Bachelor UK is back on our small screen for a second series and I can't say I'm enthralled to watch a trash-rack programme that ought to be titled 'Pretty Woman - 24 prostitutes and only one can be honoured as Vivian Ward.'

The Bachelor - 'chunky tango-faced coke-snorting' Spencer Matthews insists he is searching for a 'meaningful relationship,' must take his pick from a selection of highly competitive gawdy women by giving them a red rose, well, its better than giving them herpes, isn't it? Standing on the curb are avaricious East Europeans, British slags and Asian queen of kitsch repulsion - Marissa Jiang, though heavily bronzed like a Playboy Mansion squatter from the Philippines, Marrisa Jiang is in fact Mainland Chinese born and bred, post-graduate educated and living in London.

In an interview, 'entrepreneur' Marissa Jiang, 29, is said to have jumped onto a plane straight to London to get away from Chinese people telling her how to live her life in China, she found her solacium among influential upper-crust socialite circles of philandering old white men.

She likes to openly remind herself she is Chinese by constantly referring to her ethnicity, ethnocentrically claiming her boobs are big for a Chinese girl and how she feels 'horny.' Clearly, class is something you can't buy, prostitution you can buy, so fingers crossed Marissa Jiang has cleaned out her cupboard unlike the last Chinese girl to appear on a UK dating show 'Take Me Out' Wen Jing Mo turned out to be a £200 per hour former hooker.

When: 2012 May 8th around 23:20 [11:20pm]

Video shows a British man near Xuanwumen sexually assaulting a girl but was stopped and beaten up by Chinese locals passing by. From police investigations, on 2012 May 8th around 11pm, a foreign national male began molesting a woman in public after drinking.

When passersby saw, they stopped him and called the police. The police immediately rushed to the scene and arrested the man. Afterwards, the police put him in a detainment room for him to sober up and is currently being detained for investigation in accordance to law. Mixed Race baby

Mixed Race Chinese Baby Fetish - Is It Real?
Mainland Chinese with 'white fever' cavort their desire for White men and Mixed Chinese White babies on many mixed blood baby networks (hunxuebaobao) e.g. http://www.douban.com/group/hunxuebaobao/

Mixed baby fetish is based on 2 hypotheses...
  1. Physical attributes of the mixed child (it is believed the mixed race child is more beautiful than any other race).
  2. Potential for intelligence - a mixed Chinese baby is believed to be a super intelligent successful specimen.
Here is a shortened transcript of a conversation with a 28 yr old  mainland Chinese woman in her quest to reproduce a mixed race bi-racial baby, deliberately seeking White men in China as a result of her friends reproducing Chinese mixed race babies in the hope they will one day become the next super model or super child. It exposes the logic of Chinese 'hapaholics' and their love of mixed Chinese babies.

BBCZeitgeist: Ni hao, how old are you?
Guangzhou: 28
BBCZeitgeist: Why do you like white men?
Guangzhou: To have a mix baby with white man was my dream for a long time, you don't think the mix baby more beautiful and smart ?
BBCZeigeist: Sure. Did you meet a White man?
Guangzhou: Yes, he said he love me...but he also have other girls, he cheat me. Its his choice, he can tell me...dont need to cheat
BBCZeigeist: Did he cheat many times?
Guangzhou: Yes...he always say something different
Guangzhou: I ask .."who's that girl?"...he said "she's my girlfriend before (ex-gf),"
Guangzhou: After I ask .."I've seen your girlfriend before, she's different."
Guangzhou: He said ..."Mmmm..that girl was long time I know her..but didn't see her very long time"
Guangzhou: I think is not true
Guangzhou: He really make me sad now...I don't want to be with him any more. He already go to his country
BBCZeigeist: Why did you still date him if you knew he cheated? Did you want him to take you back to the USA?
Guangzhou: No, he's from France and he don't like France...he want to live in China...but he have nothing here...no money...no job; the first I just help him
BBCZeitgeist: Let me get this right, he has no job, and no money, but you love him just because he is White?
Guangzhou: Mmm...this is a complex story. First he have wife...his wife is rich...I know him that time we are just friends...normal friends, have many White man married Chinese girls just around me...also have baby now
Guangzhou: He told me he have problem with his wife... and always tell me the problem with his wife...I think for that time...I am a little pity him
BBCZeigeist: I see, so you love him out of pity.
Guangzhou: Ya...I still want my mixed baby...haha
BBCZeigeist: You want a mixed race baby with just any white man? You don't care if he is a cheating asshole and broke?
Guangzhou: That's past, I think still have good people la...
Guangzhou: I want love first...I mean two people love each other..and take care each other, after get marry...after have baby; the normal life
BBCZeigeist: They will return to Europe - with or without you, regardless if you're pregnant or not, they don't belong in China, they don't have citizenship.
Guangzhou: Hehe.. I don't like this,  I will find that one really love me...and stay with me
BBCZeigeist: That is not the nature of the white man
Guangzhou: Trust me, I will find one.

Is this Chinese woman just broody, naive or desperate? Is it a racial fetish to want a mixed baby? Have your say, post your comments below.

British Born Chinese Marriage

BBC Marrying BBC? How Rare Is It?

A question was recently posed by a professional Chinese wedding photographer based in the UK.
"How do British Born Chinese get married? Any BBC have a wedding that they would like me to photograph?"
The question is amusing, one has never seen a British Born Chinese male marry a British Born Chinese female in the UK, its well known within the BBC community that BBC females and BBC males have a tendency to avoid each other. There are British Chinese marriage statistics by race and gender HERE, I have not been able to obtain specific statistics for BBC/BBC marriages, however social observation of our own community may provide some clues.

Recently, one attended a friend's kids birthday party full of inter racial couples with freaky looking mixed race kids with aberrant facial features and skin tone variations greater than that observed in the latest Cream Neutral Dulux paint collection. BBC (ethnic Chinese) are used to being an ethnic minority among Whites, but to be an ethnic minority among mixed race? Gosh, you need to experience it to fully appreciate the 'mudpie effect.' On the way home, I made a list of all the BBC that I personally know that are either seriously co-habiting long time, married or a single parent, the results were as follows ....

1) There are no BBC/BBC couples
2) There are no ethnic Chinese children, but 9 mixed race children
3) Only one out of the nine is an 'all Chinese' couple

Many  had dated British Born Chinese when they were younger, however post-university and upon reaching the ‘settling down’ age, the lack of community for BBC’s, the lack of a progressive BBC culture/identity, the fact that BBC’s are overly assimilated with deep self-hatred issues in wishing they were 'white/black' and holding down jobs within the White community amidst White social circles (or multi-ethnic) takes its toll. The term British Born Chinese of the commonwealth generation is degenerating into a euphemism for inter racial breeding.

One can ignore statistical clues, but one cannot ignore reality when its on your doorstep, at least in my social circle. Whilst one can accept being a Chinese minority in a White community, we could well soon be a  BBC minority in our own 'Chinese' community to Eurasian, Blasian and Chindian, in my opinion its no longer a 'Chinese' community. BBC? More like Bye Bye Chinese.

PlayCantonese

TURTLE MOTHERS CAN'T HAVE THEIR CAKE AND EAT IT

With British Chinese women inter racially marrying at unprecedented levels (Discussed HERE), just how to do they balance their desire to assimilate into British society without ignominiously bringing shame to their Chinese ancestry?

When an inter racial couple tie the knot, the first dilemma is whether to adopt her husband's surname. Whilst there are Chinese women maintaining their Chinese maiden name, many others happily join the White race by removing all trace of  their Chinese name, E.g. Liberal Democrat's Merlene Emerson. However, there's another group of Chinese women that have developed an alternative solution (see examples below).

Sneered at by some sections of the Chinese community and often castigated by members of their own family, these types of Chinese women are saddled with guilt for marrying a non-Chinese, they fear they are non-filial or being disrespectful to their Chinese tradition, customs and heritage, but at the same time don't want to upset their White husband, the result is an improvised bastardised compromise in the form of a double barrel pseudo-Chinese-western name to save face (i.e Wong-Smith see photograph above). However, this is a false compromise, the Chinese surname/family name is formally passed through the line of the Chinese father and not the mother. The creation of the East-west double barrel name neither conforms to Chinese tradition nor Chinese custom, in creating a pseudo-western-Chinese compromise whether they like it or not, these Chinese women  are treacherously and shamelessly destroying and betraying their Chinese traditional ancestral heritage, they are making up the rules as they go along as a solution to the problems they have created themselves as a consequence of their own selfish decision to break Chinese tradition by marrying a non-Chinese.

But the guilt trip doesn't stop there, complexities are taken to a new level as she reproduces a mixed race child (typically Eurasian) and raises it in the UK, the child adopts the double barrel surname. The poor confused child is given an additional Chinese name (as their middle name) to add to their western name. These shameful turtle mothers believe they can bypass both Chinese customs and the Chinese genetic factor (their hatred of Chinese men by refusing to date, marry or breed with Chinese men) and still reproduce a 'Chinese child' by breeding with a White man and artificially raising the mixed race child to be a 'Chinese' child simply by calling it 'a Chinese baby,' giving it 'a Chinese baby name' and giving it 'Chinese linguistic lessons,' in others words, they want to have their cake and eat it.

A perfect example is Fiona Falcone, a Chinese (BBC) married to an Italian and her article for Dimsum.co.uk. She set up a 'Playcantonese' creche for parents wishing to raise their children in a Chinese Cantonese speaking environment. But why doesn't she herself speak Cantonese to the child at home instead?  Because her Cantonese is too poor and her husband and his family are white and can't speak Cantonese, nor will they ever learn to speak Cantonese.

Be Afraid: The Future of the British Cantonese community - Circled are all non-ethnic Chinese & their mixed race children attending the PlayCantonese creche
She epitomises the mentality of westernised Chinese attitudes in prioritising learning a non-Chinese second language such as Spanish, Italian, French, Latin or English (in FOB's) etc to please their non-Chinese partner, to develop their career or to pass grades....over learning their own Chinese dialect or sub-dialect. Ironically, the article is entitled ‘Keeping Cantonese Alive!’ She lays out the creche's mission objective:
“I hope (to) keep Chinese language and culture alive so that...in many years to come, my grandchildren will be wondering how to keep Cantonese alive for their children.”
You do not keep Cantonese alive by inter racially marrying with a White man, reproducing a mixed race child and raising it in the UK and still expect your grandchildren to speak Cantonese in two generations time, rather that is how you destroy Cantonese. In two generations time, her grandchildren will not be ethnic Chinese (Discussed here). If you want a Cantonese speaking Chinese child and Cantonese Chinese speaking grandchildren, its quite simple - marry a Chinese man from a Cantonese speaking family,  there is no compromise, you can't have your cake and eat it.

Mixed Britannia

'Mixed Britannia' is a three part series on mixed race and inter racial relationships spanning three different periods of British history broadcast on Thursday BBC 9pm, part one can be viewed on BBC iplayer below...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b015qms8/Mixed_Britannia_19101939/

As I'm in Asia, due to viewing restrictions, I do not have permission to watch this programme, but one already knows the 'Chinese' story, I read about it over a decade ago whilst researching the Chinese community in Liverpool. The story follows Stanley and Emily Ah Foo and how she became an Alien in order to marry a Chinese seaman and the race riots of 1919 that followed...British Chinese rioting? Now there's a shocker! The race riots were attributed to angry white working class squaddies and ex soldiers returning from the trenches of the First World War to a 'Land Fit For heroes' only to find their home towns and cities suffering from high unemployment, poverty and their white women inter racially married to 'aliens' that arrived in the Britain for the war effort, hence ethnic ghetto's were targeted, being the most visible and easiest target.

I cannot speak for the programme, but the story itself is one that highlights the early history of extreme racism and anti-foreigner sentiment towards Chinese people in the UK, although the solution of assimilation is one that should be questioned. Lets not forget the main reason Chinese sailors married White British women was due to the absence of Chinese females in the UK, the early Chinese migrants to the UK were predominantly male, they married white women because they had no choice, not because they wanted an inter racial partner or inter racial marriage. Their mixed race offspring could not speak Chinese as they were largely raised by their white mothers as their Chinese fathers were often away, some repatriated.

Today as it was yesterday, for a Chinese to be inter racially married in the UK is a slippery descent into multi-generational Chinese genocide, cultricide and linguicide, but the BEEB will obviously not consider this point, merely celebrating diversity- Mixed Race Britain.

Whilst early Chinese seamen had no choice, its rather different today, mixed race are mainstream and are highly promoted making them desirable, many Chinese are actively making the choice to dissolve their Chinese bloodlines by marrying inter racially. It is the British Born Chinese group, in particular the BBC males who should be  the most concerned by the dissolution of their community, BBC female inter racial marriage rates are at genocidal levels (see Further reading link below), for every BBC female that marries inter racially, their corresponding BBC males will have to marry inter racially too, the inter racial marriage rate will continue to spiral upwards. Increasing numbers of Mixed race Eurasian are a visible representation of the destruction of the British Chinese community, it takes on a new meaning to the term 'Chinese invisibility.'

When the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation, not British Born Chinese) researchers contacted me in spring 2011 after reading my blog, one was sceptical as to their reasons, after all my blog is not exactly politically correct on the subject, since when has the BEEB ever been interested in hearing a British Born Chinese voice?

Any programme on multiculturalism or inter racial marriage will be agenda driven. Why would the BEEB commission it otherwise? A programme that negatively questions racial mixing  - would not be commissioned in the first place, so of course such relationships are presented in a positive light - a struggle against adversity and how a beautiful intelligent mixed race baby makes it all worth while, just look how far we've come today...look at all these famous successful beautiful mixed race celebrities! It's always the same agenda - to promote race mixing positively. Indeed, as another commenter on this blog pointed to a link to another BBC article..'.mixed race ethnicity is mainstream now,' (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15164970) Recent research stated that mixed race people are "over-represented at the top level of a number of meritocratic professions". Mixed race encounter very little racism or discrimination these days, so why should we watch programmes like these and pity them?

In the end, the BEEB chose not to press my alternative minority British Born Chinese opinions any further, rightly too, my BBC perspectives would never have fitted into the mainstream mixed race 'agenda.'

Lazy Police 'Could Not Be Bothered' to Arrest Robber Breaking into Chinese Restaurant

Police Woman Michele Selby 'Could Not Be Bothered' To Arrest Robber Breaking Into Chinese Restaurant

News source: The Scotsman (14/7/2011)

A police officer who "could not be bothered" to arrest a suspected robber breaking into the Moon River Chinese Restaurant in Kirkintilloch at 0530 BST last July,  has been found guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The court heard she told the suspected robber - who has six previous convictions, including one for a similar offence - that she knew he was trying to break in and if she did not have another call to go to he would have gone to jail. But the job that Selby claimed she had to rush to was not a 999 call but delivering letters to another police station.

Selby, of Cumbernauld, Glasgow, then told her less experienced colleague, "If I could be bothered he would have got the jail" before throwing his tools in a bin at Kirkintilloch Police station and clocking off duty at 7am.

She said in court she believed the man was trying to fix the door at the request of the owner and that she believed no crime was being committed.

The 38-year-old was found guilty yesterday of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by failing to detain the man and of disposing his tools and failing investigate the incident, on 26 July last year. Selby was warned she now may face a jail term.

BBCZeitgeist Commentary: This is a case of 'couldn't be bothered to arrest the robber' because he was breaking into a 'Chinese restaurant,' do we seriously believe she would not have made the arrest if the robber  was breaking in a bank?

How An Immigrant Nurse Became the First Chinese Mayor of Colchester

Helen Chuah has become the first Malaysian Chinese Mayor of Colchester, UK. Prima facie, another ground breaking moment in 'British Chinese' politics following Thomas Chan, the first Chinese mayor in 2009.

However, I, BBCZeitgeist, find it rather perplexing how a humble immigrant nurse managed to become the UK's first female Chinese Mayor, in Essex of all places.

Historically, women have struggled for political reflective representation, currently there are 144 female MP's in parliament compared with 504 male MP's. Yet, in the European Parliament, 35% of MEP's are female, about half of UK Labour MEP's are female, indeed the only British Chinese MEP is female - Anna Lo. In a male dominated world of politics, how do British Chinese females compete on equal footing or in the case of Anna Lo et al, get ahead of Chinese men?

The five most high profile and successful British Chinese female politicians have much in common. With the exception of Mee Ling Ng OBE for whom I have been unable to ascertain any information about her private life, none of the other four Chinese female politicians were born in the UK nor are they married to Chinese men.

Helen Chuah, born in Malaysia, migrated to the UK in 1971 to work as a nurse, rising to a local St Anne’s councillor and the Mayor of Colchester. But how?

Its quite simple, she is married to the former Mayor of Colchester - Councillor Mike Hogg.
Helen Chuah with her husband Mike Hogg - former Mayor Of Colchester

Anna Lo, born in Hong Kong, a Chinese female Immigrant, the first Chinese to be elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly and the first Chinese born in Hong Kong (China) to sit in the European parliament. How did she do it? A very revealing interview here: http://www.newsletter.co.uk/lifestyle/features/i_have_perfect_life_says_alliance_s_lo_1_1880515
"My family in Hong Kong are very wealthy, with maids and chauffeurs."
"My (White) ex-husband was political correspondent with the Belfast Telegraph so through him I met a lot of senior politicians."
Did Anna Lo raise her mixed race Eurasian children to appreciate her ancestral home - China?
Last year her oldest son Conall Hon Watson was arrested in London as part of protests over China's human rights abuses in Tibet. Former UK student of the year Conall, 26, helped preparations for the protest after abseiling down Westminster Bridge and hanging a huge Free Tibet banner.
Is that how she raises her son to love her motherland? Was she ashamed of her son's anti-Chinese antics?
"I support my son completely. I am extremely proud of him. It's important that people understand both he and I have nothing against the Chinese people but against the Chinese government,"
If there is one phrase that encapsulates anti-China Sinophobic diatribe on a par with "I'm not racist but...," it is ..."I'm not against the Chinese people, but I'm against the Chinese government."

Anna Lo's Favourite country? Clearly not China.
"I love the United States"
Who is Anna Lo's Hero?

"Aung San Suu Kyi"
Nobel winning political prisoner, Aung San Suu Kyi studied and lived in England, she married the late Michael Aris (White husband), before returning to Burma on a  platform of westcentric democratic human rights against her own country of origin. Sounds familiar?

Example 3,  Liberal Democrat Merlene Emerson, Singaporean Chinese immigrant is married to a White male of Jewish descent. On her blog http://merlene.org.uk/en/article/2009/183027/what-s-in-a-name, she said...
Just as some with Jewish or Germanic names had chosen to anglicise theirs in the last century, many of us have taken on names that help us fit in. I was happy to adopt my husband's name when I married.
Example 4, former Baroness Lydia Dunn - First Chinese peer in the House of Lords, is married to Michael Thomas, former Attorney General of Hong Kong.

In politics, nepotism and cronyism are part of the furniture, Helen Chuah's rise to political office is just another story of a self hating Asian female (immigrant) marrying very influential non-Chinese (White) men to get ahead.

Asian Fetish - Unhealthy Personality Traits

Delving into the minds of Asian fetishers and their unhealthy interracial relationships
An article entitled 'Deconstructing Asian Fetish,' pulls together some of the ideas I have discussed before...but from a Personality Psychology perspective. Their website does not allow comments, so it is pasted below for discussion.

Asiaphiles, both male and female (i.e although its predominately White men with an Asian fetish that date or marry or befriend oriental women) are typically characterised by one or more of the following personality traits

Sensitive nature or fragile ego
In East Asian/Southeast Asian cultures, people are less likely to criticize others openly. This cultural trait of masking potential disagreements makes sensitive people feel more at ease. One of my Asian sources mentioned meeting a black professional who could not handle anyone disagreeing with him or suggesting something contrary to what he wants even in an amicable, constructive way. This ultra-sensitive man happened to be married to a Korean woman.

A common expression of the 'ego-in-need-of-boosting' is the kindly condescending non-Asian (usually white) person who tries to attach himself to Asian immigrant circles so he could take on a 'teaching role' and show them the 'American way'. In some cases, these people give helpful practical advice to new immigrants, but it should also be noted that more often than not, they come to teach and not to learn. They have little or no interest in learning about the immigrant culture beyond superficial things like food and celebrations. The underlying assumption is that while they have something valuable to teach the immigrants, the immigrants have nothing as valuable to teach them. Their 'helpfulness' is ultimately self-serving. They need to place themselves in the position of 'expert' and 'guide' to shore up their fragile egos, they use East Asian/Southeast Asian immigrants as tools to serve this purpose.

Know-it-all attitude
"Know-it-all" behavior, which maybe an expression of the "fragile ego", also occurs quite often among non-Asians who gravitate towards Asian friends. I have observed among non-Asians who date/befriend Asians at least five instances of the kind of person who always acts like s/he is an expert on every topic s/he is talking about and rarely, if ever, admits ignorance. In the worst case, the individual is ignorant and arrogant; he tries to put down everyone who happens to know more than him on any random topic. He is an insecure middle-age white man who happens to have married a Thai woman. Most Americans would have called him on his crap, but he has cleverly sought the company of people from a very forgiving culture.

In another case, the 'know-it-all' white boy was somewhat less obnoxious, but he had to pass himself off as knowledgeable about every conversation topic, framing phrases in big words and complex phraseology, he got away with this highfalutin by surrounding himself with Asian immigrants whose command of English was below his. He happened to be dating a Chinese woman who was competent in English but not to the point where she could meet him on his level of discussion. She put up with his bad behavior and clung on to him even though she was upset he openly cheated on her on an ongoing basis because she was dazzled by his 'knowledge' and 'scholarly demeanor'.

Friends who are highly literate in Chinese have told me that a regrettable aspect of their culture is that people emphasize academic success to the point that they sometimes value brains over character. The Imperial-era satire titled "The Scholars" (available in English translation) provides a glimpse into a centuries-old values system that has men rushing to marry their daughters to cruel, cowardly, selfish young men just because the potential son-in-law aced the Imperial Examination.

Verbally competitive, always has to win the argument
Some East Asian/Southeast Asian cultures emphasize conflict avoidance.  I know of a few rather verbally combative women who happened to marry/date East Asian men. But just because the examples given here happen to be women does not mean that the verbally competitive, "I'm always right" type of person is always female.

In the examples I came across, when the non-Asian women start an argument, the East Asian men often take the initiative to apologize to the women before things really get 'out of hand'. This does not mean that the men really think they are wrong. For the East Asian men, who is 'right' in a disagreement is less important than harmony in a relationship. So they back off. (The Chinese have a saying, "take a step back and the sea will become wide and the sky will become empty.") For one of the women, such exchanges with her boyfriend were more of a cultural misunderstanding.

In another case, the woman was cynical and liked cutting others to shreds. Her basic approach boils down to "if you don't think like me, you're a bad person and you should change." She had a tendency to largely limit herself to people of the same gender when it comes to telling people off. Perhaps her spouse's East Asian trait of preferring 'tolerance' over 'truth' in conflict situations is what preserved her marriage so far. The New Scientist article Westerners and Easterners see the world differently provides some insight into this cultural difference.

Don't you wonder which of these personality traits Asiaphile Tory MP Jeremy Hunt has?

Uncommon selfishness
The "selfish type" is based on the idea that she will do all the housework and he would not have to do a thing. A Thai woman told me about how her black male friend wanted to date her because he had seen his brother's Korean wife take care of *everything* (he emphasized *everything*) around the house without troubling his brother. Now why would a man want a wife who does *everything* around the house unless he is a lazy, selfish person who wants to do *nothing* at home?

These non-Asians-who-love-Asian-culture-and-people may have spent years dabbling in Eastern religions, typically utilizing Buddhist meditation to get the physiological "feel good" benefits. Yet they picked up none of the Buddhist values of understanding, tolerance, compassion and consideration for others. They remain very selfish and unable to see beyond their own interests. Indeed, their whole interest in Eastern religions (and people) is all about "me, me, me", e.g. using meditation to feel good about themselves instead of actually transcending the self.

Even more extreme is the individual who thinks the whole world should keep him happy. One example is a white boy who rips his company off and neglects his work. His lack of integrity also extends to his personal life - he takes things from friends without returning them. When people point out his specific acts of dishonesty and irresponsibility, the white boy turns around and call his accusers 'evil' and 'cruel' for 'persecuting' him, i.e. for holding him accountable, instead of admitting the damage and harm he caused to others.  Often, such individuals do not fare well with many East Asians, as East Asian cultures highly prize reciprocity in personal relations, i.e., "if you take, you better darn well be ready to give back".

On the topic of tolerating 'non-crucial' flaws in others, I had an interesting discussion with a Japanese friend who could not understand why many Westerners are so quick to cut ties with people who have negative traits. For example, a few women I knew got angry with their families of origin for making racist comments about their birth children from a mixed marriage or their adopted children. They cut off contact with their families rather than put their children in a hostile environment. Another woman told a long-time friend who insulted her parents to never call her again. The Japanese woman could not understand why these people made such 'radical breaks' with their families and associates. Part of this difference in attitude can probably be attributed to a difference in East Asian vs Western views on social interdependence. The BBC article Different view for East and West describes this idea much better than I can.

Tendency to externalize problems
Another recurring trait among some folks who are drawn to East/Southeast Asians is a tendency to blame others for their problems. Very often, these people are social misfits in some way. They blame Western society for not accepting them and they have an escapist fantasy about finding acceptance in Eastern cultures. There are usually two components to their misfit status. One is society's unforgiving attitude towards certain neutral traits a person might have, e.g. American culture tends to devalue quiet, shy types with intellectual interests. The other component is the person's own bad character and poor behavior. Typically a white boy who possesses the character flaws mentioned in the previous sections blames white America for 'rejecting' him, but he never really asks himself if it is because of any bad behavior on his part. He claims he likes Asian people better, presumably because they 'accept' him. But do they really? It is easy for him to fantasize about an idealized East where he is accepted and honored.

Mixed Race Chinese & those of Chinese Descent

Alexa Chung is of Chinese descent but who actually considers her to be Chinese?
A controversial discussion on Eurasian Mixed race Chinese and those of Chinese descent and their relationship with the British Chinese community.

“[In the UK] 9% of children are of "mixed or multiple heritage" - that is, they live with parents from different ethnic groups, or they are themselves of mixed ethnicity. Over the past 14 years the number of children of... Chinese heritage with one white parent has risen from 15% to 35%.”

With a 133% growth over a 14 year period, is this a sign that Britain has finally embraced miscegenation and multiculturalism? What are the implications for the British Chinese community?

The statistical figures are tangible, one can physically see it in Britain's city schools, international schools and in Chinese Sunday schools there are more and more Mixed Race enrolled, yet nobody dares to question the implications. Reading the partial views of inter racially married Chinese writers on British Chinese website - Dimsum.co.uk, miscegenation is incontestable, there is no adverse critique.

Seemingly spellbound and infatuated by those who are ‘mixed race and/or of Chinese descent,’ like some unique exotic specimen, they exclaim “there are no ugly Mixed race Chinese babies,” as to imply a physically beautiful child is a form of justification for interracial breeding and marriage. Mixed race Chinese baby fetishers believe such an offspring is the apotheosis of perfection, amalgamating the best features of both races.

The beauty argument is a double edged sword. On the one hand, a ceaseless stream of  successful beautiful celebrities with Chinese blood (i.e Keanu Reeves, Alexa Chung, Kristen Kreuk, Naomi Campbell etc) helps to perpetuate this myth, but then theres Gok Wan, he is considered below the standard of beauty. An article appeared in the Daily Mail last year of a British Chinese Male White Female couple who had TEN children. yes...TEN. I saw the photograph for myself, the kids differed in natural hair colours, some western looking with blonde hair, some looked a little Chinese, they all looked different, as nature intended, there is no guarantee of a beautiful child. One has to feel pity for those who fail to meet the stereotypical mixed race beauty expectations, its as if they failed to justify the reason why they're born. With the upside comes the downside, 'mixed race' are disproportionately judged on their appearance.

"You don’t look English? You don’t look Chinese? What are you? Where are you from?"

Even though British Born Chinese are probed with these questions too, their treatment differs from Mixed race. When a FOB meets a Mixed race who manages 5 words in Cantonese, the FOB will take a positive view..."Oh you can speak some Chinese, that's amazing!" Mixed race are not considered Chinese, its rare for them to speak the Chinese language, so the expectation is low. However, if a BBC (full blood) speaks Cantonese at a higher standard than a mixed race but not fluently, a FOB will say..."Oh your Cantonese is not good." Full blood Chinese are expected to speak it fluently, thus expectations are determined by physical appearance and mixed race are somewhat ambiguous.

In terms of identity, Mixed race can be in an very advantageous position. Their ambiguous ethnicity allows them to manipulate equal opportunities policies. Those with identity issues can metaphorically conceal their 'Chinese blood,' so they can simply claim to be...

  1. ...'White.' If that fails,  they can then "play  the race card" by jumping on 'ethnic' bandwagon by claiming to be...
  2. ...'Chinese.' In fact when that fails, they can try again a third time by claiming to be...
  3. ...'Mixed race/Other' In theory, they have three bites at the cherry, whereas a  full blood Chinese is limited to one.

This begs the question, are these successful 'mixed race' paving the way for the full blood Chinese or are they merely blocking them by stealing their opportunities?

Take  this recent example, http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/news/latest/view/item114698/Stratford-Eats-Takeaway
"Britain's first British-Chinese musical, a hip hop version of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing...tells the story of Eddie Woo, a youthful dreamer and wannabe ladies’ man who works day and night in his father’s Chinese takeaway."

http://www.stephenhoo.com/HOME.html

The leading actor in the role is Stephen Hoo. Perhaps conveniently he doesn't say where his parents are from, merely 'being proud of his heritage.' Visibly, his facial appearance screams charlatan, he is not Chinese, rather he is mixed race. Have you ever seen a Chinese White mixed race person working in a Chinese take away in the UK? Restaurant yes, takeaway no. (Gok Wan's father owned a restaurant and Tita Lau too http://www.titalauofficial.com/ ) Yet theres one playing the leading role in the musical about a Chinese Takeaway. The Chinese take-away is an iconic of representation of British Chinese culture, yet even that is not represented by a full blood Chinese.

I have been asking the same question for two decades now, why are there no famous British Born Chinese people who were born and raised in the UK (to parents who are both pure blood Chinese) and still live in the UK? (Stevie Hoang, but he's not exactly famous).

There are established factors, i.e Chinese parental discouragement, industrial discrimination of Chinese, class factors or...could it be that the few limited ‘ethnic’opportunities that arise for Chinese in the UK are all purloined by the mixed race and other non-BBC Chinese? Reading the biographical backgrounds of relatively famous British Chinese people, most are either born overseas, raised overseas, have emigrated or are mixed race (This issue will be explored in my next blog). Being optimistic, someone will come through eventually....or won't they? They now have to compete with a 133% rise in mixed race children.

Consequences of miscegenation - Genocide, Cultricide and Linguicide

In general, there are three routes.
  1. Hegemonic Western Cultural Assimilation
  2. Multiculturalism/Biculturalism
  3. Sinocentricism
It is common for mixed race children to enter a phase where their identity is questioned, even within a multicultural society they theorectically still have to choose which way they go. In practice however, their future is determined at birth.

Hierachy of ‘Chineseness’ (i.e how culturally Chinese you will be 1 = most 5 = Least)
  1. Far East Raised FOB's
  2. Far East Raised emigrating Overseas
  3. Western Raised BBC's Born to Foreign Raised Parents
  4. Western raised BBC's Born to Western Raised Parents
  5. Mixed Race
The most culturally Chinese are those raised in the Far East. The least culturally Chinese are Mixed Race.  There isn't a British Chinese mixed race culture to envelop them in, so on probability, mixed race will assimilate into local hegemonic culture or 'turn native' by default.

Hierarchy of Chineseness For Mixed Race Chinese and White

1.      Chinese father, White mother
2.      White father, Chinese mother

The least culturally Chinese will be a Mixed Chinese White baby born to a White father Chinese mother, based on personal experience, more so if its a girl than a boy.  A self-hating inter racially married Chinese female whose life ambition is to obliterate her Chinese bloodline should pray that she gives birth to a daughter.

If the Child has a Chinese father, his Chinese surname can act as a gravitational pull towards a Chinese identity, 'carrying the family name' along with its obligations is a reminder of their heritage, at least for Chinese males (females have different obligations), so it cannot be enforced by a White Father or his Chinese wife...as she has a tendency to follow her husband's culture. However, there are limits, a mixed race child is a tabula rasa, it is devoid of heritage or cultural responsibility and if it is raised in the UK, it is highly unlikely to be sinocentric. If the child doesn't become westernised in the home during its early years, it certainly will be by the time it spends a year in nursery or studying in a British school. These establishments will do their utmost to white-wash the child via socialisation and assimilation, it is not uncommon for Chinese parents to be instructed by the school or nursery not to speak Chinese in the home, it is said that speaking an alternative language to English impairs the Child's development in school causing him to lag behind in class. Consequently, servile BBC's who complied with this white-washing route are well educated, mastering Latin and French, yet they can't speak their own ethnic Chinese language. Generally, by raising a child in the west,  the overall odds for racial, cultural and linguistic preservation are poor, irrespective of ethnic parenting variations.

It gets worse. Statistically, according to 2001 census, mixed race are more likely to marry inter racially than any other race, its not uncommon for their partner also to be mixed race like themselves but not necessarily the same mix nor Mixed race Chinese. Its  rare for a mixed race Chinese to marry a full blood Chinese. There are exceptions of course, Jamie Cho whose partner is British Taiwanese chef Ching He Huang. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Cho

Posterity

British mixed race Chinese are barely Chinese, neither in physical shape, cultural form nor linguistically, if they themselves are incapable of upholding their Chineseness, then their offspring are certainly not going to do it.

A topical example, Polly Samson (of Chinese descent).   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polly_Samson
The mother of Charlie Gilmour who was arrested for his part in the student riots in London late last year. There is nothing Chinese about her or her son, if it wasn't reported in the press, nobody would know she had Chinese blood.

And...if a full blood Chinese has an child with a half White half Chinese partner, the child will be 75% 3/4 Chinese. Will a 75% Chinese uphold their Chineseness? There is a famous example, Alexa Chung. Alexa Chung's father is 75% 3/4 Chinese,
"I'm 3/8 Chinese 5/8 English. A very silly fraction. Less than a half,more that a quarter."  http://twitter.com/alexa_chung/status/3368205919
Her father did not marry a Chinese, he married a White woman. How Chinese is their '3/8 Chinese' daughter? Alexa Chung is basically a White woman who will marry a White guy or a non-Chinese mixed race.

It is puzzling as to why mixed race are 'considered' part of the British Chinese community. Mona Hammond who played Blossom Jackson in Eastenders has a Chinese father,  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mona_Hammond yet it is doubtful a Chinese person would consider her to be Chinese, but Black, she has never played a Chinese role in her life. Maybe exceptions are made for Alexa Chung et al because She is mixed race Chinese and White Caucasian and has White skin as opposed to Black skin. Or perhaps the fact there are no famous British Born Chinese people (full bloods raised and live in UK) with celebrity status, so mixed race are the next best thing, rather like clutching straws. Chinese people really do wish that Alexa Chung can speak Chinese so they can proudly claim "She's one of ours and she's an A-list."

However, merely being mixed race or biracial or of 'Chinese descent' flatters to deceive, it doesn't follow that a half White half Chinese person will be bi-cultural,  they will rarely reflect 50% British culture and 50% Chinese culture, culturally its likely to be nearer 90% non-Chinese 10% Chinese, whereas their children in the next generation (as in case of Alexa Chung i.e who has a pureblood Chinese grandparent) will be culturally 0% Chinese. They cannot speak Chinese, they do not look Chinese, they do not follow Chinese culture, they do not identify themselves with other Chinese people, their social or dating circles are not Chinese, nor do many Chinese people perceive mixed race as being Chinese. In the west, miscegenation is the start of a slippery descent into multi-generational cultricide, genocide and linguicide, it is extremely unlikely the following generations will re-breed with Chinese and yet amusingly they can claim to be Chinese by virtue of a Han Chinese relative high up the family tree.
