BT Ripping Us Chinese Apart For London 2012

Media advertising during the 'multicultural' London 2012 Olympics and London 2012 Paralympics focused on crossing demographic boundaries with British Citizens unified behind the Union Jack. There's multiculturalism and there's agenda driven multiculturalism, the latter is a visionary yet artificial representation of British society. Two examples include the middle class interracial Black White family in the Olympic opening ceremony and the Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO advertisement 'BT Bringing Us All Together,' this advert will be played throughout the London Paralympics until September 15th.

In the advertisement, a lower class Black family share a barbecue with their White middle class neighbours, they sit in unison Black-White-Black-White-Black in support of Great Britain. British Blacks are not always portrayed as inter racially dating Whites (Black families in Eastenders are a further example), however the same rule does not apply to East Asians, typically British Chinese are represented as multiculturally integrated (and inter racially dating) with Whites, Blacks and Indians, but segregated from their Chinese peers.

Representation 1. Chinese female is cheering on Great Britain in the Olympic Stadium in the unlikely company of a turban wearing Sikh male.

Representation 2. Chinese female is alone with her White boyfriend in the middle of the English countryside.

Representation 3. In this crowd scene, Chinese female is intentionally placed in the front row to fill the ethnic diversity quota, she is standing in front of a Union Jack with a Black, a White and an Asian.

'BT Bringing Us All Together' advertisement attempts to normalise the segregation of the Chinese female from her Chinese community, segregation from her Chinese family, segregation from her natural partner - the Chinese male and segregation from her Chinese heritage (hence support for Great Britain not China), whilst calculatingly circumventing representations that run contrary to the interests of British Multiculturalism - three invisible examples in the British media are Chinese with a group of Chinese friends, Chinese male/Chinese female same race couples, ethnic Chinese families in the UK, not the Far East. This is media agenda driven multiculturalism through stealth, subliminal representations with designs to erase the traditional ethnic Chinese family. (BBCZeitgeist)

beware the full frontal assault in the Chinese is here, you'll be surprised where these things are popping up, some of the least expected nooks and crannies.

  2. Nice to see the visual manipulative detail being examined that we are being programmed, to accept. And if you think they would put that much effort into a 30 second ad, imagine the amount of social engineering put into the olympics ceremony that goes beyond the designed 'isolate the Chinese girl and make the Chinese guy invisible'tactic. Advertising like this is why I avoid watching TV except when it comes to reviewing programs for this blog.

Multiculturalism IS social engineering. To me it's the same as being agenda driven because dissolving of race is the agenda.Look at the design of the British flag - St. George surrounded by the ethnics. There's no 'equality' or 'unity' in the symbolism of that design.

Symbolism goes way deeper in western society than a lot of people can think of. Hopefully some of us who are less media savvy can learn to develop more critical thinking about media symbolism, rather than lapping it up like good little consumers .

    1. Avoiding does nothing but more harm as you are moving yourself - an opponent of this - out of the equation. Instead you must be one of the many who resist this movement, the movement that is gradually killing off the future of our race.

I have a habit of boycotting companies who blatantly advertise oriental women-white man relationships in your face - I recall vividly just browsing the web when I clicked on an Apple ad... heavily pregnant oriental woman accompanied by a white man touching her belly, and taking a vid on the iphone. Yes, rub it in my face. Funny thing is, it was aired for America, where there are lots of Chinese Americans in Apple territory (California). You'd think they would be a bit more culturally sensitive.

Yes boycotting sinophobic products, media, electronics is the best we can do, as consumers. I'm ashamed to admit I actually own an apple product but this was from 2004, before i knew about Chinese slave labour and interacial pushing ads.

Look at the top right photo. How lovely.

And in the Q+A, the guy says

"During Q4 will enter select markets with intense focus and will continue to build from there. You can expect to see China very high on that list."

So he wants to focus on the Chinese consumer... Chinese men, looking at white men breeding with Chinese women and taking away their right to have a family. In their face. Whilst taking their money.

Some of the comments are pro samsung, saying that apple steals from everyone and pretends to innovate - apple steals a lot of its stuff from Taiwanese companies. and that samsung makes a better cheaper product so apple just wanted to destroy them. All about the branding, I suppose.Anything can start to look attractive if you are bombarded with the images long enough.

  4. Thankfully, what the white media want to push for their agenda is not happening as clearly as they wish. The only way to fight the imagery they want everyone to think is happening is to just make reality different... happily I am seeing more and more ethnic Chinese couples together in my area, sure they're from the mainland, first generation rather than BBC, but it is encouraging that they are now surpassing the white man-oriental women couples now, dare I say overhwhelming them. Of course the white man agenda is to say otherwise, to make it that oriental women-white men pairings are more and more common, that oriental men are ousted from having their own family to continue their race. That is not the case.

    1. Was your area full of white male/Chinese female before? no wonder you seem so against it. Guess you live in a semi affluent area, those kind of couples tend to choose those areas ive observed.

      Delete
    2. Sorry for the delay. Yes, it was full of them and I didn't see much to do with class or income - you had the typical old men on their pensions with their late 20-30 something chinese FOB who speaks no English and simply wants her kids to have a better life at all costs, even if it means her kids not looking like or being her. Then there were the 30 something men who were social outcasts/losers/criminals, similarly getting a mail order bride from an unsuspecting FOB...and of course the affluent men, 40+, who were financially well off and could easily impress any woman with their cash, but chose an oriental bride because of the "easy and submissive" stereotype...

I have met all these types, in what is an otherwise completely white area (a few asians and blacks)... until recently that is, when many more chinese couples and their families moved in. I do worry that, like with my generation, the BBCs they have will turn into the FOB women and simply have their identity washed away. Whilst by comparison the asians and blacks who have been here for a few generations will continue and grow their racial identity whilst still being British

  5. Also, I would like to draw everyone's attention to how white media has managed to build up a one sided caricature of our race for years. The drip drip effect of negative article after negative, whilst conveniently forgetting the positives/normal ones, says a lot about what they are trying to do in terms of portraying us a certain way.

Unfortunately, due to the perception by whites that a free media = unbiased media, it has meant that overhwhelmingly non chinese (and many chinese, BBCs are a great example of this) have become whitewashed into thinking a certain way i.e. in this case, the Chinese are x and y etc. For example, watch this

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-19407382

Just the latest addition portraying the Chinese as having backwards attitudes to the disabled, only changing because of success in the Paralympics. Everyone in the west, ethnic Chinese in Britain included, will think this way, as we have been indoctrinated our whole lives with white media.

Unfortunately for them, I've also been reading Chinese media on the run up to the Paras...

Disability campaigning charity Scope stated that half of the disabled people they surveyed felt that attitudes to them over the past year have worsened. eg welfare benefits, and the media coverage accompanying it which often allies "disabled" to "benefit scrounger".

"hate crime" has risen involving verbal and physical abuse, and a general sense that as people as a whole struggle in the current economic situation, empathy with disability is on the decline.

Out and about ive noticed quite a few wheelchair bound people, shopping, in public, seemingly happy or celebrating. I guess for them it must be nice to be finally 'accepted' even celebrated , if its only for 10 days.

Re: benefit scrounger, thats rich coming from the biggest spenders of peoples money, the UK government.
For me the real issue is the bandaid effect that these games are having. For those of us who are financially okay, its just a bit of entertainment and more temporary cheering for their favourite country.

For those who have genuinely been affected, the bandaid wont last long. I cant remember when it was last so apparent that sports have been such a useless remedy for those who are suffering from the effects of overprinted debt.

    3. I was making an illustrative comparison with anon's link about the western press article on Chinas views towards their disabled, its ironic whilst these games are taking place and brits think how wonderful they treat their disabled, there are ATOS protests by the Britains disabled taking place simultaneously.

      Delete
    4. Indeed, and the irony is that, even in the face of what white Brits (and many Chinese brits) see in Britain, they will STILL assume that the way they treat their disabled is far far better than how China treats theirs. I would say it's a subconcious thing.... we turn a blind eye to our race's biggest failings, whilst happily criticising and exaggerating that of other races... but that doesn't work, because many ethnic Chinese don't return the favour.

    1. to the troll, I have answered that before. There are 1 BILLION whites across the planet - all spread out. Currently, there are 1.3 billion Chinese - all concentrated in the Pacific region. There is a 125:100 male:female disparity i.e. 25% Chinese men will not have children). There is a far greater proportion of older Chinese than other races. And of course you have the one child policy. simply put, in a generations' time there will only be 800 million of us, all concentrated in the East.

Meanwhile asians will continue to balloon in size, and - not unhindered by any interracial pairings, especially compared to Chinese, their race will continue to grow and prosper. Not just in South Asia either, but in the west - indians, pakistanis and bangladeshis are breeding at a high rate, well above the white british average, in this country.

The white population is also steadily increasingly, white America is breeding beyond replacement level, albeit much slower than black and south asian populaces.

So him saying "aren't there enough" is missing the point entirely. 1) - no, there won't be enough for the next generation, especially compared to all other races. 2) those who are left and not in China will be whitewashed so as not to be Chinese (or indeed, be mixed and thus not Chinese). Chinese influence around the world will thus wane.

Compare this to whites, who have always had an established, large contingent of whites who never will breed outside their race; blacks and of course asians who vehemently stick to their own - outbreed the hosts AND retain their culture, in effect colonising their new country.

The Chinese of the future will be assimilated in this new world - of course, the troll would want that - but then why would he care about what happens to the future of OUR race? His agenda is either not to give a shit or to do harm. Our agenda is to promote and push for better security for our race.

    2. China is not our business, I'm not a chinesenational. I'm concerned with the future of the BBC and BC community, the main genocidal threat lies with the BBC community and those who arrived in the UK under the aged of 14, this particular group is at threat, 60% of female marriages in this group is IR, this is also the group thats being targeted by agenda driven advertising promoting IR.

      Delete
    3. Without data on divorce rates amongst IR W-O marriages, with country level identity on the F, it is hard to make anything except speculative judgments. What I do know is that there are Chinese women who will give themselves away (e.g. to older married men) because they want a passport to this country. Such marriages, in my opinion, will likely be doomed to fail. And that is sad. I have no problem with IR marriages, so long as they are based in love and not the sexualization/sexual objectifying of either partner. I am worried about the many couples I meet, especially the Chinese women who I know are looking for relationship for the visa reasons and often their naive partners.

      Delete
  7. I wonder whether all the interracial promotion where the female tends to be of 'colour' whilst many of the partners are white men is somehow seen as less aggressive to the advertising industry. Women being the fairer sex, maybe the advertising people view that as harmonious even when it's a dangerous message. I personally don't think it's just confined with Asian people.

For instance, I tend to see white men paired with a black women or mixed race women, when in reality, it tends to be the other way round where black men tend to be seen with white women. You tend to see this on advertisements for apartments, utility companies and mobile phone companies.

I believe that advertising execs tend to view ethnic men as a direct threat to them, so cast the white men in central roles. By that, I mean they can push the image of them being able to be with anyone ethnic group's women. This is a sly way of saying who's really in charge. As for the multicultural dream, it's just a case of box ticking like companies who now promote being green as being a selling point, even when they deplete the world of oil. SF.

    2. The rules are generally different for Black males as opposed to East Asian males, they're much more favorable to Black males. Black male and white female couple in the olympic opening ceremony was watched by almost 27million on UK TV, some estimated 4BILLION worldwide watched the promotional agenda driven relationship.

      Delete
    3. BBCZeitgeist, what do you mean when you say they're much more favourable to black males? The one represenatation was admittedly inside the Olympic stadium, but in fairness, this type of coupling is often seen reversed the other way round too, even though it's an exaggerated image of black women with white men.

The 'favourable' you mention might be to do with positive discrimmination. Simply over-compensating for years of poor image tagged to black men. And if you pair them with a white partner, this immediately sends out a positive image of harmony and openness.

Whereas this is seen less with Asians and East Asians. Two reasons, the men in these categories have less of a negative image in reality, but more invisible as you say, but not negative, just seen as in the background with no role to play.

You have to realise, we live in a highly sexualised society where women and sex sells. In developing countries, the western media wouldn't normally push developing/emerging country's women in this way because it might be too much progression, but on the Chinese, they will because we seem like a nation ready for change and dare I say, joining in with all things western, which is why this is happening.

The reason BT can push the lone or single representation is for two reasons. It's their way of saying there aren't enough of us to fill in realistically as a unit/family. Secondly, the Chinese has essentially for decades melted away their past and heritage, by that, I mean a strong separate social identity.

We are really the most visible Asian continent with very little heritage left, when I say that, I mean visial identitly. Even in places like Malaysia, the original 'Malays' wear their traditional clothing, and the Indians too, but the Chinese don't. This is a strong message that allows the media to get straight in and immediately promote integration and separation from the family. Because the population of BBCs are so small, even more reason for BT to say they're only representing by averages, so the reason for lone females. SF.

What does the producer of the ceremony (who is white) have to gain from this though?

"Whereas this is seen less with Asians and East Asians. Two reasons, the men in these categories have less of a negative image in reality, but more invisible as you say, but not negative, just seen as in the background with no role to play."

Really? You've never heard the "all Asians guys have small penis her der" or "Asians all short hahaha" in your life? I can guarantee you that Asian males do have to suffer much negativity, promoted by Hollywood and TV propaganda like The Hangover movie, the TV series Chuck (which also features a typical orientalised hypersexualised Asian-American female), etc.

Hollywood and America media is watched throughout the world, the majority of people who have never seen or interacted with an Asian person in their lives will probably build up that stereotypical image of Asians through their consumption of American media.

It is a mixture of both negativity and invisiblity. The reason why most people don't pick up on it is that they aren't an Asian male (like yourself, no offense), we have to bear the grunt of all the stereotypes so we're the first ones that pick up on it and more easily as well. I mean how many white middle-class suburbanites complain and campaign against those Asian stereotypes? Probably close to 0.

"You have to realise, we live in a highly sexualised society where women and sex sells. In developing countries, the western media wouldn't normally push developing/emerging country's women in this way because it might be too much progression, but on the Chinese, they will because we seem like a nation ready for change and dare I say, joining in with all things western, which is why this is happening."

You don't necessarily see this as a positive thing, right? The girl in the advert is probably a BBC.. so I don't see what your comments have on China have to do with her, unless we're assuming that the "perpetual foreigner" stereotype is in place here and that most people will think she is a Chinese national regardless.

Can you elaborate on your last two paragraphs? I don't really understand what you mean. When I first read it I thought you're reading into the advert too deeply.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Wong, maybe you have misunderstood my last few paragraphs. I'm trying to give the article starter my reasons for why we are seeing the 'lone' BBC famale. Number one, we are less, so we see no family, but just one representation. Two, we see a woman being represented because women are the fairer sex, and women sell better in the west. Couple that with decades of China's image of trying to move in with western modernity, we will see Chinese women merging in seemlessly unlike Indians and Pakistanis, because our culture has been lost after the revolution and continues today. I use the visual example as obvious proof. Most young people wear western clothing, and many also adopt a Christian first name, even when they live in China. You are less likely to see this in India or a Muslim country.

Regards to the other point, I see your point about the movies, but the negative image I'm talking about is more to do with anti-social behaviour, crime and lack of education.

These are serious negative images, whilst Chinese and Indians tend to have negative images attached with their sexuality. This is not to say it's not negative, but it's seen as lower down the scale of negativity compared with black men.

The organisers only 'gain' as you say a pat on the back for being caring and sharing for doing the rounds of box ticking. In Britain, there is nothing more satisfying than feeling sorry for the unfortunate. Sadly, this has not quite extended to BBCs because they are seen as doing well in the background. Let's not forget, we live in a culture where money seems to be the answer to happiness. You only have to see how mainstream papers spend so much time snapping the rich. SF.

Even if the ceremony is agenda driven, the deeper issues are what I have written. I believe it is not as simplistic as box ticking and Danny Boyle's selfish project. Chinese can be "ripped apart" as you say because of our lost of culture back in China and the longterm indoctrination of worshipping western culture. For this, it makes easy job for the media and advertisers. SF.

    1. You do realise that, from the perspective of white British, what you are complaining about is generally perceived as a good thing? These adverts are almost ethnic compliments.

While you're calling for a group-think homogeneous identification of Asians under the banner of BBC, effectively forming a xenophobic ethnic minority, this is the exact sort of stance that leads to the racism directed against other ethnic groups. The "us and them" mindset is what leads to genuine racism and discrimination against other groups - by banding together under a racial banner, they gain recognition as a political group but loose acceptance and equality in wider society. Their issues become minority ethnic issues, simultaneously being pushed out of mainstream discourse and given a token consideration status. It's frankly demeaning, minority groups are only paid lip service to try and secure their vote, as if pretending to be on their side and then not doing anything will buy their shallow loyalty.

I personally can't thing of anything more insulting.

To be accepted as just part of mainstream society, regardless of origin, is what allows BBCs to do so comparatively well for an ethnic minority and to be so relatively safe from racial prejudice (when did you last see an EDL rally marching on east Asian areas with the intent to cause as much damage as possible? It happens far too frequently to Muslim areas)

When did you ever see an advert where a Muslim girl has a white boyfriend? Be thankful you're considered integrated enough to have interracial relationships - nothing stops you having a relationship with other Chinese if you want to, but unlike many others you have the option of having a relationship with people from different backgrounds.

You really need to loose this victim mentality - as things stand, east Asians have it really, really good.

      Delete
    2. 1) 'The "us and them" mindset is what leads to genuine racism and discrimination against other groups.' This is a Chinese blog, we represent our own interest. If Asian muslims encounter racism, thats their problem and its upto their own ethnic groups to tackle it, not my issue.

      2) Possibly the most famous inter racial marriage (that hasnt resulted in seperation) in the UK is between a muslim and white man - Konnie Huq and Charlie Brooker. Now see if you can name one famous marriage between Chinese male and White female in Britain? And if youre wondering, I dont want to see Chinese males and white female coupless in the media, I'm just using your own point to illustrate how wrong you are.

      3) wider society? Please tell what you mean wider society? Are law courts, journalists, politicians, literary writers, TV presenters, not wider society then? Theres muslims in prominent positions in all those professions. Mushtaq Khokhar is a pakistani British judge, Nazir Afzal is chief crown prosecutor, Shamim Qureshi is a district judge, how many British Chinese judges are there again? There are NONE. How many prominent ethnic Chinese Tv presenters are there? There are none. How many prominent ethnic Chinese journalists are there? There are none.

Clearly, what you say about muslims not having real political power and representation because theyre not integrated in Britain whereas Chinese are 'integrated' and have it so good....is utter cr*p. In fact, its the exact opposite of what you say, Chinese are in your words are more 'integrated' yet have next to zero power and representation in 'wider society.'
